How to stay up to date with ICS ROMs

So some of you are no doubt patiently waiting for your device to get Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). Those of you that don't want to wait are looking to custom ICS ROMs which will be out before any official firmware update. In fact the official updates will be around in early 2012 at the earliest. Some devices will have a longer wait. If you don't want to wait and your device is rooted, head on over to XDA Developers. A member of XDA has started a thread that details a list of devices that have a custom ICS ROM and what status they're at. You'll be pointed in the right direction for your device.

What are you waiting for? Head over to XDA now to see whether your device has a working ICS port.

ICS builds starting to appear

Ice Cream Sandwich builds are starting to appear for various Android phones. These are being ported directly from the ICS source and not the SDK. It's good news. If you do try out an ICS port, be sure to let us know your experience. The following are the devices that have an ICS ROM and the link to the ROM thread. They are work in progress and are all AOSP ie. they don't have the manufacturer UI's on the top.

Happy flashing!

With the joint Samsung/Google event due to start in just under 18 hours we thought we would remind you all about it. Tomorrow at 2.30 PM NZDT the doors will open to the event in the heart of Hong Kong with the main event starting at 3.00 PM. This is where we expect Samsung alongside Google to officially announce the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 version as well as the first device, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

We understand many of you will be at work at this time and as such don't want to get caught on Youtube where the live video stream will take place. That is why we have thought ahead and decided to use Cover it Live for a much more discrete method. We'll start the live blog going at around 2.30 and we'll keep it going until the activity dies down after the event.

Read on for nothing other than the fire-proof way of following the latest Android release!

So via twitter we have this picture and the time old fashioned YouTube clip of a new dessert being erected.

I for one cant wait to see what ICS will look like on final release, let alone the Galaxy Nexus. See the video after the break.
