If you're like me, you're impatiently waiting for the release of the Samsung Galaxy S3. To fuel our excitement Samsung have just announced the official accessories. The C-Pen Stylus looks like a snazzy grey pen and you would be forgiven if you tried to use it on a physical notepad. I'm not sure this is for me, but with the large screen on the S3, a stylus does make sense. The official case is set to top the US$50 scale. It effectively replaces the rear battery cover ensuring that your device stays slimline. The desktop charger is a wireless solution allowing you to stand your phone up. For those power users, you can also place a battery in the back slot.

Samsung's new flexible display a hit

Samsung are set to release their "Youm" branded flexible OLED display by the end of this year. They've drummed up a lot of interest and the orders are coming in fast. Some of the concepts that were used to showcase smartphones with the display, look like a truck have run over them. At this stage I'm not certain as to how they will apply these to the smartphone or tablet world. Check out the crazy pictures and see if you'd be likely to fit a curved phone in your pocket. One application I can see for them is on the battlefield as a wrist computer. Or perhaps I've been playing too many games?

Samsung and their new Tizen OS

Samsung are top dog in the Android world. They're not a fan of putting their eggs in one basket, hence they have phones running Windows Phone 7. We mentioned the other day that the next step for Samsung could be to build their own operating system based off Linux. I'm not talking about Bada, Samsungs feature phone OS. In fact Bada is going to be amalgamated in to a new project that's headed up by Intel. The new OS is known as Tizen which owes its creation to MeeGo and is based off Linux (same as Android). On Monday the Tizen Developer Conference took place and we got our first glimpse in to a Tizen developer reference handset.

According to a report from Asymco, Samsung and Apple shared 99% of the smartphone profit in Q1 of 2012. That's a phenomenal figure, basically leaving 1% for other smartphone manufacturers to fight over. Between the two power houses they shared US$14.4 billion in profits. These figures clearly show it's a two horse race. But why? Think about the marketing you see. Samsung and Apple have enormous budgets for marketing and you definitely notice a smaller amount of coverage from the remaining OEM's. Is this a good thing for the smartphone market? Absolutely not.

Samsung Galaxy S3 or HTC One X?

Now that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has finally been outed you must be wondering how it compares to the HTC One X. Good question. They're both flagship devices, the HTC One X is already available in NZ and the S3 will be available at the end of the month on all 3 major carriers. Both phones run quad core processors, and the specs are very close (detailed below). The HTC One X is a wonderful device and HTC Sense is easily the most beautiful user interface out of the two. But the Galaxy S3 comes with a host of new innovative features that aren't included on the One X.

After a huge wait and countless of rumoured specs, we get the official look and specifications of the Samsung's Galaxy S III. To be honest, I'm not amazed by it at all, or even a little disappointed.

Now, it seems like this is how Samsung is going to entice customers to purchase their S III instead of going for the Taiwanese manufacturer's flagship device. Anyone who has an HTC One X knows that they have 25 GB of Dropbox storage. Samsung is going to do the same, but double the offer to 50 GB. However, just like HTC, the offer only lasts for two years.

Will Samsung create their own OS?

Mark reported yesterday that Samsung have officially become the largest mobile phone manufacturer. So what's next for the South Korean consumer electronics giant? Will they follow in Amazon's footsteps and create their own version of Android? I'm not talking about Touchwiz, we already have that. What I'm talking about is Samsung having their own Android ecosystem, an OS and an appstore. Will such a large market share you'd have to assume that this would be a success for Samsung. Having their own operating system based on Android would come with some great benefits. They wouldn't have to wait for Google to pass over the source code.

Samsung Galaxy S3, I give up

Perhaps it's time to just sit back and wait for May the 3rd for the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S3. I brought you some benchmarking results which detailed specs of the upcoming S3. It detailed the processor to be a dual core Exynos 4212. A service manual has now surfaced for the GT-I9300 which is said to be the Galaxy S3. This details a 1.5 GHz quad core processor. The screen was supposedly 4.7 inch, yet today it's 4.8 inch. I seriously don't know what to believe. The quad core processor does make sense as Samsung have just announced the 1.4GHz Exynos 4 Quad processor. The specs could also be region specific.
