One of the most popular threads over in Vodafone's official forums is one where many users are left wondering where the Android 2.3.6 update is for their Vodafone Galaxy S II. Well John Reader (johnr) is essentially the spokesman of Vodafone New Zealand on the mobile front and has passed on this quote from Samsung in the aforementioned thread.

"Samsung is currently working through testing to deploy an ICS update to Vodafone Galaxy S II customers. A rigorous testing process is followed to ensure any release meets Vodafone and Samsung standards of customer quality.

The release date for this update will be confirmed within the next few weeks, and we will post an update at the appropriate time.”

If carriers are already planning to roll out the update, we can soon expect international versions of the Galaxy S II to get their own Ice Cream Sandwich updates. This could be a surprise Samsung has in store for us at MWC next week.

Oh, and this probably means there will be no official Android 2.3.6 update for Vodafone customers, but who cares? Ice Cream Sandwich is on its way!
